Parking

Parking is simple but limited. Most visitors park at Kualoa Regional Park, located directly across from the island along Kamehameha Highway (Route 83). This beach park provides the safest most convenient access point.

From the parking lot, it is a short walk across the grass sandy beach to the shoreline where you can begin your crossing to the island.

Is Parking Free?

Yes. Parking at Kualoa Regional Park is free.

There are no parking meters no entrance fees for the park itself. However, parking is first-come, first-served. On weekends, holidays, sunny afternoons, the lot can fill quickly.

To secure a spot, it is best to arrive:

  • Before 9:00 AM on weekends
  • Before 10:00 AM on weekdays
  • Earlier during summer months school breaks

Alternative Parking Options

If the main lot is full, some visitors park along Kamehameha Highway. However, this option requires caution.

Important notes:

  • Only park where it is clearly legal.
  • Do not block driveways or traffic lanes.
  • Avoid soft shoulders that may trap your vehicle.
  • Observe all posted signs.

Illegal parking can result in fines or towing.

Whenever possible, wait for a space inside Kualoa Regional Park instead of risking roadside parking.

Walking Distance to the Beach

From the parking lot to the waterline is about 2 to 5 minutes on foot. The terrain is flat easy to navigate.

Keep in mind that there are no paved walkways to the water. The sand grass can become muddy after rain.
